The swing check valve is mainly used to prevent backflow in the pipeline system. It is designed to automatically close by active closing in a horizontal or vertical pipeline system. The swing check valve has reduced pressure and is most suitable for medium speed applications. The correct size of the rotary check valve is very important, because too low or too high speed may damage the inside of the valve and shorten the valve life.

In order to obtain the best performance, the swing check valve should be operated at a speed sufficient for the disc to completely against the disc stop or to close completely. Applications involving rapid and frequent commutation, pulsation or turbulence must be avoided. Reinstalling swing check valves in the piping system can usually minimize or eliminate the problems caused by such applications.
